Tanner Makes a Run for State

Tanner had a bitter-sweet cross country season this year.
Sweet because he did amazing.
Bitter because he kept reminding himself that this was his Senior year and it would all be ending before he knew it.

At the Tiger Grizz meet, he ran his guts out and earned a medal placing in the top 10!

And at Districts he absolutely ran his heart out, knowing that he would have to place in the top 7 on his team to run at state and at the time he was ranked either 8th or 9th.  He wanted it BAD and he ran hard, earning 7th place on the team and in the top 10 over all earning a medal and a trip to the State competition where his team was expected to do very well.

His team earned the District Trophy for the boys and girls!

The state-bound team!

The state competition took place over Halloween weekend at Eagle Island in Boise.  Both the Snake River boys and girls team got to go and they had so much fun together.

When it came time for the meet, the teams both did AMAZING.  The girls' team won by probably the smallest margin a team can win by and took home the state title.  And the boys' team had the top two finishers by lost first place by another very small margin, taking second place overall, which was better than they were predicted to finish.  And Tanner once again ran so hard and accomplished new personal goals.  Helping his team secure the second-place finish.

At a Cross Country banquet after the state tournament all of the runners were honored for their individual achievements and the Seniors got special recognition!

This has been an amazing group to be part of!  They loved running together, eating meals together, and even playing together, going on group activities from parties, to haunted attractions.  Tanner is forever grateful that he stuck out those first difficult runs his sophomore year and had the best high school experience through participating in Cross Country.
