Thanksgiving in Salmon
It was our year to do Thanksgiving with the Fillmore side. Tyler and Nichole's family had a fun idea that we should get a vacation home rental and go to Salmon and try out steelhead fishing together.
It was gorgeous!
We had a rough start with our suburban blowing the water pump 20 minutes down the road and we had to turn around, get the suburban to a mechanic and switch vehicles and then squish into Zac's truck uncomfortably and breathed in his exhaust fumes because his truck was also broken for the rest of the drive. But we finally got there and it was a beautiful cabin right on the river.
We got absolutely skunked and didn't catch a single steelhead, but somehow Ashlyn managed to hook a very small trout. It was quite the task packing up turkeys and all the ingredients to make a Thanksgiving meal, but we managed it and it ended up being a great dinner. All of our kids, Megan and her family and Tyler and Nichole and most of their family made it at one point, plus Grandpa Jim and Cresta. It was fun to play games together and listen to the cousins get the giggles during the Thanksgiving dinner prayer. Whitlee loved having a sleepover with cousin Haddie and it was very memorable and fun.
Ian was able to call in on Thanksgiving and say hello to everyone. He definitely missed us and the fun Salmon fishing trip, but he got fed lots of pizza and said he was doing great.
He learned to make delicious brownies and breakfast burritos and loves to cook on his mission.
We miss him so much, especially this time of year, but he is doing amazing!
