4th of July

We love spending the 4th of July at the cabin in Island Park.  Lakeside Lodge puts on an incredible fireworks show over the lake and we love to motor out on the lake and watch them.  Sadly, this year being a drought year, we are in high fire danger and Lakeside wasn't able to launch fireworks this year.  There was also a fireworks ban on the Island, so we had to enjoy the actual 4th without any fireworks :(

The weather was so pleasant that the kids built a fort on the deck and slept out.

And though the fireworks were canceled, we still had a traditional Bill's Island parade.  The floats aren't great, but the candy is always plentiful!

About the one and only actual float!

We kinda defied the rule and lit just a few fireworks to make the day feel special!

Island Park also always has this fun boat parade that goes down the reservoir.  We love seeing the fun boat floats!

Another favorite tradition is a neighborhood BBQ and fireworks show.  We have incredibly generous neighbors who put the fireworks show on and we all pitch in.  Every year it seems to get bigger and better.  This year about gave me a heart attack when Ian decided to be an assistant firework lighter and a few exploded close to ground.

The girls also loved the face painting, food, and activities.  We have an awesome neighborhood!
