Whitlee's 7th Birthday
About a month ago, Whitlee made a chain counting down to her birthday. She is a girl who loves her birthday and she made sure that we knew the countdown numbers every day. She couldn't wait for the perfect party she had planned which would include a night of Chic-Fil-A followed by the new Disney movie Raya and the Last Dragon.
The tricky thing about an April 1st birthday is that you have to share your day with April Fools. Of course, Whitlee was up bright and early ready to play some tricks on the family.
She and I stuffed some of dad's pajama pants, some socks, and a hoodie with some towels and blankets. We then blew up a balloon and Whitlee drew a face on it, which we put in the hoodie. We set it up in the bathroom like this and left the shower curtain open a bit, so that when the kids came in to use the bathroom, they got a scary surprise!
Whitlee also drew spiders and bugs on all of the TP in the house with a black marker. The marker leaks through several layers, so this was a surprise that kept on giving all day!
We also made a fake news article that said that President Joe Biden decided to close all schools in the nation for the rest of the school year to continue to recover from Covid. Ian fell for that one and was SO mad, but then thought it was funny enough to send to all of his friends later.
Once the tricks were managed, we made unicorn pancakes for breakfast!
And then it was time for some early morning presents. Ashlyn is going through an "I don't want to be in pictures!" phase, so I have to be tricky trying to catch her, this is her rare sasquatch sighting pose as she tries to flee the picture.
Whitlee has always been so full of spunk that I often get pictures like these:
She received so many fun presents to play with including a fun Pet Spa Lego set from Grandma K., shrink-a-dinks- diamond dot art, a matching doll and girl dress set, some stuffed animals and pet grooming kit, a shovel and some gloves from dad, and some caterpillars and a butterfly enclosure.
BFF Josie was on hand to help make the princess castle birthday cake.
We had a fun picnic lunch, a day full of playing with birthday gifts, and of course a night full of Chick-Fil-A and Raya and the Last Dragon.
We love our Whitlee May!
