Ian's Basketball Season

I am so sad!  Ian has been playing basketball for the past 3 months and I took my camera and got some great shots of him in action and I misplaced that SD card somewhere?!?  It also had some amazing pictures of this unbelievable Winter that we have been having.  Because he didn't have any more games when I found out I lost the card, I had Ian do a little basketball photo shoot for me.  Here are the poses he came up with:

Ian's season was fun but incredibly frustrating at the same time.  The Snake River league starts when the kids are in 3rd grade.  They have a combined 3rd-4th grade team and a combined 5th-6th grade team.  However, we live in a generation where parents feel like if they aren't getting their kids started on sports by at least 4 then they we get behind.  So somehow, certain parents always find a way to get past the 3rd-4th grade rule and send their 5 year olds to play on teams with 10 year olds.  Then there are the parents who hold their kids back for a sports advantage so they are in fourth grade and a foot taller than all the other kids playing with kids in Kindergarten who can't dribble the ball yet.  It makes for an interesting dynamic, where the coach just starts telling all the kids to pass it to the one kid who has been held back and get out of his way.  They also didn't get enough coach volunteers this year and the teams were overcrowded with 12 kids to a team, so the kids just weren't even getting to play much.  So even though Ian loved every minute (of the minutes he got to play), it was still a bit frustrating and he can't wait until next year when the teams become a little more fairly matched.
Ian is learning so much and seems to love basketball just as much as his older siblings.  He assures us that someday he will be playing for BYU.  This boy has some serious big dreams and the drive to make them happen.  Can't wait to see where life takes him!
