Zac Walks Like an Egyptian

About a week before the COVID-19 Virus hit America for real and before we really knew what it would do to our daily life and how everything operates in America.  We packed up Zac and sent him to Egypt and Dubai to meet with some clients and attend a business conference.
His stay in Egypt was in Cairo and just a stone throw away from the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx.  This trip was a little hard for me to watch from afar as I have always my whole life wanted to see these wonders of the world.

Here are some things I didn't realize about the Pyramids... They are just off the main road!  When you see them in the movies, it seems like the movie character has to travel through the desert on a camel to reach these landmarks, but not so in real life.  You can just drive right up to them!

However, if you want the whole experience, you can hire a camel guide and a camel so that you can feel like you are getting the real deal.  And Zac hired this cute little Egyptian camel guide.

He says the locals hang out asking you to take pictures of THEM and then they want a tip when you take their picture.

The locals also make a good living giving away these headscarves for "free" and then asking for tips, but they made for fun souvenirs and it was fun to see Zac look a little Indiana Jones while in Egypt.

It catches my breath to see all of those hieroglyphics, there is just so much history there and I want to know what every single line says!

Having Zac visit the Pyramids sparked some historical interest in our house and we watched several documentaries about how archeologists and scientists believe the Pyramids were constructed.  It is so interesting to me.  We have also watched documentaries about the Sphinx and the Pyramids and have learned so many fascinating facts.  It was also mind-blowing to think that our Savior Jesus Christ lived very close to this region of the world and even spent some time in Egypt as a young child, maybe even in this same city.

We are so glad that Zac got to have this experience and even more glad that we were able to get him home with no issues just one week before everything in our world started shutting down including airlines and travel.  Maybe someday this world will normalize again and I can travel the world with my husband.  But for now, we are enjoying Zac's travel pictures and stories and trying to imagine what it would be like to be there!
