Bronson Turns 8
Our little Buster turned 8 and had the best birthday ever!
For starters, his siblings knew that he has always longed for a pet of his own, so they pooled together their money and bought a cage, some toys, food, and hamster ball and a big white hamster that Bronson named Charles. He couldn't believe it! He absolutely loves having his own pet and loves to let that little hamster out to run around in his hamster ball.
This year, dad helped Bronson decorate his cake. He wanted a basketball jersey in the colors of the Chicago Bulls... because you know, Michael Jordan.
When the kids turn 8 at our house, we have decided that they are finally old enough for a birthday party. Bronson decided that he wanted to just have a few friends so that we could have an epic laser tag party at the Outer Limits.
Mom and dad also took him on a birthday date on a weekend or so later and he chose to do an escape room.
10 Things To Know About Bronson
1. The kid gives ferocious hugs. He will come running at me like a freight train and crash into me to give me a hug. And this kid is built like a linebacker. I know it's only a matter of weeks before he will be big enough to knock me over with his hugs.
2. He still loves to sit by me, cuddle, and hold my hand when we go on outings. If I had to guess this boy's love language, it would probably be physical touch.
3. Bronson is getting better and better at basketball all the time. He played in a league of 3rd-4th graders this year even though he is only in 2nd grade and he kept up pretty well. He is getting so good at making shots and can even win the family in lightening!
4. This boy's fingernails grow freakishly thick and long freakishly fast. I know this is a weird piece of information, but I swear his nails grow overnight and take an electric sander (almost) to trim them. He must have a very healthy biotin level.
5. Bronson is learning to play the piano and loves to learn and play songs on his own. He even found a website where he can write his own music and has composed several songs and usually titles them with the word Beauty. He has also learned how to pick out the Pirates of the Caribbean theme and loves to play it so frequently, his siblings are about ready to kill him whenever they hear those opening notes.
6. He is an incredibly fast reader and reads several grade levels about the second grade, however his favorite books are Comic Book style books and he refuses to read anything except Diary of a Wimpy Kids and Dogman books... so if anyone has any suggestions to get him reading books besides these two series, please let me know!
7. Bronson loves to play games more than anything in the world. He is constantly begging to have a family game night or is always on the hunt for anyone who will play a game with him. He is especially good at strategy games and loves Chess, Risk, Settlers of Catan, and especially Cover Your Assets.
8. Bronson loves to draw and has taken a few art lessons at the library. He is getting really good at drawing comic book characters (thank you Diary of a Wimpy Kid). However, he is extremely passionate about drawing logos and I find pages and PAGES of logos he has designed all over the house. When he grows up he is going to own a company called Gem Valley and his business has an awesome logo, however, he is still not quite sure what Gem Valley business does or sells.
9. Bronson is such a GOOD boy. Every time a school or church teacher, primary leader or anyone talks to me about Bronson it is always to tell me a story about what a good kid he is. There are so many stories about acts of service that he gives, times where he goes out of his way to be a friend or just times that he is leading by example. He has been the kind of kid who could sit through a 2-hour church meeting with full focus on the speaker and teachers for the whole 2 hours ever since he was six. He internalizes his gospel lessons and always has amazing thoughts and insights. I have been told so many times that Bronson is a very special kid.
10. He chose to be baptized this year! We have been having the missionaries in our home to teach Bronson the basic gospel discussions and without any hesitation or doubts, he desired to be baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are so proud of him for making this important decision.
We love Bronson and can't imagine life without him!
