St. Patrick's Day Mayhem

A couple of years back, Family Fun magazine came out with leprechaun traps.  As you will recall from last year, we made the traps and rather than getting stuck, those sneaky leprechauns found a way around our traps and stole our gold.  That experience was so traumatic for Tanner that he has plotted for a whole year about how to change his trap to make it leprechaun proof this year.  About a month before St. Patrick's day he began developing and testing traps until I had about 10 traps sitting around the house just begging for any leprechaun to come close.

In this design, he had propped up a box with a stick and placed a coin under the stick.  When the leprechaun lifted the stick to get the coin, the whole box fell on top of him.  Unfortunately, the leprechaun had a bomb with him this year.  Tanner was SO MAD.  It was hilarious!  And of course, the leprechaun took the coin.
Ian helped me make this "leprechaun bank" the idea was for the leprechaun to climb the ladder to get the coin on top.  We had put slits on top so that when the leprechaun stepped on the lid, he would fall through.
Unfortunately, Ian forgot to stick a coin on top, which didn't sit well with the leprechaun!

Ashlyn was asked to bring her leprechaun trap to school.  I didn't get a before picture.  Hers was a little like Ian's with a ladder going up to the top, but instead of money (she didn't want her money to get stolen again like last year), she left a four leaf clover.  She cut a hole in the lid and covered it with tissue paper, so that when the leprechaun stepped on top to get the four leaf clover, he would fall through.  Unfortunately, her trap also yielded no leprechaun.  Maybe next year!
