Thanksgiving at the Cabin

We had a unique Thanksgiving this year.  This was the first year of our Powell/Fillmore Thanksgiving year since Grandma Kris passed away.  We were also missing Tanner and Ashlyn so it felt especially sad.  Since Tyler and Megan's families have hosted Thanksgiving before, we decided it was our turn to host.  But due to Grandpa Rich just having shoulder surgery, Tyler and his boys hunting, and Megan and Brandon having family in town, it was requested that we postpone our Thanksgiving feast to the following Sunday.

Since the kids had the week off of school we decided to head to the cabin to make some memories.

We did some shooting, where Ian tried out his new shotgun.

And we did lots of fishing and the fishing was good!  It was cold and the water tried to freeze around our lines as we threw them out, but the fish liked the weather and they didn't disappoint.

On actual Thanksgiving, we grilled steak and had potatoes and rolls.  I think it was the best Thanksgiving dinner any of us had ever eaten.  But we really enjoyed our dinner on Sunday when the extended family came and we could enjoy our family relationships.  We have so much to be Thankful for and family is at the top of that list.
