Ian's 7th Grade Football Season

Another football season has come and gone and I really enjoyed watching my boy play.  Ian worked really hard this season to make sure he was within the proper weight limits so that he didn't have to be an X-player and he could actually carry the ball this year, which he did actually get to do in a game or two!  And he loved it.

But mostly, he played Offensive line, protecting his quarterback and also filling in on Defense as needed.  He is #30.

The Snake River boys ended up having a perfect undefeated season.  They even shut out several teams not even letting them score and in at least one case not even letting them get a first down for the whole entire game.

Their reward?  A trip to the Holt Arena to play a championship game on the turf in the "Mini Dome".  It was so beyond awesome!  The moms got together and made posters for each of the boys and almost our entire extended family came to support Ian at the dome.  Needless to say pressure was running a little high.

Ian got to be one of four team captains that got to call the coin flip.

Snake River led the entire game up until the last 3 minutes when a devastating interception took place and the other team scored putting them ahead by 2.  After that point, we just didn't have enough time to retaliate and the boys lost the game... the first one of the season.  There were a lot of tears and a lot of sad faces.  But we still ended the night with a big team/ family dinner, a slide show, and a huge fireworks show by the coach.  Even though it wasn't a W, it will be an unforgettable memory to tell their kids about and the whole season was a blast to play and watch.  And the boys have a band of brothers that they can keep as friends forever.

Here is the slideshow I put together for the boys made from hundreds upon hundreds of pictures Zac took of the season.  If the whole construction thing doesn't work out, sports photography might be a second career choice for Zac:
