The First Ever Fillmore Family Derby

This year marked the first time in 7 years that we haven't had a Cub Scout in our house to participate in the Pinewood Derby.  And with our church parting ways with the Cub Scouting program, Bronson was feeling upset that he wouldn't get a chance to participate.  Therefore, Zac had a brilliant idea and he bought us all a derby car kit and borrowed an old Derby track from our church house.  For this race, we decided not to hold anyone to any rules or weight restrictions.  We set up a bracket and each participant raced each participant twice.  The winner took the big Derby Cup and had first choice of a selection of treats.  Everyone else received individualized trophies.

Bronson had the Power House award for his awesome tank.

Ian received the Davinci Cup as well as the overall fastest car.

The little cheater taped a remote control airplane to his car, which apparently gave his card a huge advantage.

Ashlyn got the best "Paint Job" for this artistic beauty, but also had the slowest car.

But she didn't care... she still got some candy!

Charlotte had the "Creative Cat" award for this amazing bird car!

And Whitlee started with a unicorn in a meadow of grass with a fence, but eventually tore everything off her car and put some pretty stickers on it.  She got the "Pretty Fast" award and received a pack of gummy frogs.  She threatened everyone who thought of taking those gummy frogs with tears and tantrums until everyone conceded the frogs to her.

And of course Tanner had a fish car.

We had a very fun and memorable night together.  Every day truly is an adventure at our house!
