Ian Plays Baseball

Last year, I put a ban on all summer sports.  Whitlee was born April 1st, right when baseball season starts for the boys in these parts and I had absolutely no desire to take my brand new bundle of joy out in the rain, snow, sleet, hail, and then 90 degree scorching sun by the time the season is out.

This year we are making up for lost time with all three kids in three different sports leagues.  All have practices and games almost every day of the week in all different parts of town.  It is a little crazy getting everyone where they need to be and making sure they feel loved and supported, but boy are we having fun.

Ian chose to play baseball this year and this was his first year playing with actual outs and points and winners and losers!

The boy found that he enjoys pitching... and he actually did a descent job at it too.  In this league, the pitchers pitch three pitches and if the other team doesn't get a hit then the other team's coach steps in to pitch, so everyone gets six shots at a hit.

We had many rainy and cold nights.

But we had many pleasant and wonderful evenings too.  Ian did a great job and we are so proud of him.  He even hit the winning run in their first tournament game.

Unfortunately, his team was knocked out in the second round of tournament play, but I think we were all a little ready for the season to come to a close, so there were no tears and lots of ice cream for everyone and that right there is what baseball is all about.
