Zac and Lori Trip to San Diego

Yay, Yay, Yay!  I got to be Zac's work date to a conference in San Diego.  We got to stay in a hotel overlooking the ocean and my heart was so happy!  For beautiful days we forgot that it was Winter.

This seagull greeted us every morning at our 37th floor hotel room hoping we would throw him some snacks, which we of course did.

I was very surprised to learn that before San Diego was "civilized" it was overrun with rabbits!  We saw cute little bunnies hiding all over in the bushes.
We loved all of the different boats in the harbor.

On our first night in town, we took a ferry boat over to Coronado Island and walked the length of it stopping at the historic Coronado Hotel right on the beach.  It was beautiful and it felt so good to walk in the sand and the waves.

This amazing sandcastle was on the beach.  The photo doesn't do this justice!

The USS Midway, breathtaking!

Our favorite part of the trip was visiting the Maritime Museum and being allowed to walk around on these beautiful ships and submarines.

We were able to book a passage on a 1500's replica ship of the San Salvador, the first European ship to arrive on the California coast.  We got to take it out to the open ocean and unfurl the sails.  It felt unbelievable the whole trip to be on a ship like that!  We got to spot whales and dolphins swimming near our boat.  It is definitely an experience I will never forget.

Zac was very fascinated with the US Navy Hovercrafts that were zipping around our ship at amazing speeds.

This particular ship was the ship used in the movie Master and Commander.  The entire movie takes place on this setting.  This ship was also used as Captain Barbosa's ship in Pirates of the Caribbean 3

These pictures are from my adventure by myself while Zac was in meetings.

I visited Balboa Park which is this HUGE amazing park where the San Diego Zoo is located, but there are probably ten museums there and several gardens and all kinds of beautiful architecture!

I also visited the Whaley Mansion, which is said to be the most haunted house in America.  I didn't see any ghosts, but if you look in this picture that I took, you can actually see a spirit standing in the room in front of the bed!!  What the what!!

This is a very old cemetery situated next to the Whaley house.  It is also said to be haunted!

These are some beautiful Victorian mansions in Heritage Park:

And beautiful San Diego horticulture!!

Loved every minute of it.  Just wish it would have gotten a little warmer than 60 so that we could have jumped in the ocean for a snorkle!
