Our One Week of Winter

This Winter has been such a crazy contrast from last Winter.  Last Winter the kids almost had two weeks of no school due to weather and we were starting to wonder if they would ever go back after Christmas!  This Winter we have been waiting and waiting and WAITING to 1) have enough snow to make our annual igloos and 2) have the right consistency of snow to make them stick.  In one magical weekend at the beginning of January we finally got both of those conditions met and not only did we make an igloo this year, but we made TWO!  Now that the kids are getting big enough and experienced enough to create an igloo, they thought they would split up into teams this year.

We headed out as a family and after two hours, two igloos were born.  Now, I should have run right in the house and grabbed my camera, but I was wet and cold and when I came in, I was ready to be in.  And sadly, by the next day, the igloos had already started to melt along with most of our snow.  And these are the best pictures I got and didn't even get the kids making them or playing in them. :(

The igloos only lasted a week until they were completely gone!!!

I liked the look of the layers of the snowball as the igloo started to melt.

Needless to say, it has been a hard year for skiing and sledding and even hot cocoa.  Temperatures this week are estimated to get into the 50's record breaking heat for February in Idaho
