Ian Turns 6

Ian recently had a birthday and turned the ripe old age of 6!

He originally request a cake with the prophet standing next to the temple and some bushes.  I really wasn't quite sure how I was going to pull that off, but then he started getting Tee-ball fever as the approach of the tee-ball season neared and he changed his mind to a baseball cake.

It looks pretty awesome, but I have yet to find a way to make fondant taste that great.

Who cares about the taste though... birthday cakes have become more of a "centerpiece" in our house.

Ian was very hands on in the creation of his cake this year.

He has become an expert egg cracker.

And of course, Charlotte had to be right in there too.

Our kitchen was a wretched mess when we were done!

Lucky for Ian, by the time we finished the cake, we whisked him off to Kindergarten and I had the mess cleaned up and the house glittering with birthday magic by the time he came home.
He had the best day ever at school as they had an Adventure Day and he got to ride horses, make rockets and kites, plant trees, milk fake cows, and take a hay ride on a tractor.  Couldn't have planned that better!

As Tanner had his last baseball game the night of Ian's birthday, we celebrated as a family a day early by taking him to Blast Off where he was able to play in the Galactic Galaxy playground and even got to play a game of laser tag.

His brothers and sisters saved up their hard earned dollars and got him some great gifts.

Ian is very sweet.  Days before his birthday we kept teasing him about what his gifts are.  I would tell him, "I got you a garbage can for your birthday." and he would respond with, "Great!  I could use a garbage can, I have a lot of garbage."  We couldn't frazzle him and I am sure this sweet soul would have been perfectly happy with a garbage can.  He is the happiest easiest going kid a mother could ask for.

Making a wish... He says he was wishing for a pretend gun (dad did him one better and got him a real BB Gun!)

Oh how we love our Ian!

From Mom: Ian is a very outgoing child.  He has an assertive voice and he is not afraid to jump into any situation, ask questions of adults, visit with and make friends with people of any age, and learn new things.  Ian is very bright and catches on to things very quickly.  He was one of the best readers in his class and has always been able to keep up with his big siblings no matter what they are doing.  Ian is very spiritual and has a very good conscience.  He is always thinking of Jesus and whether or not his actions are what Jesus would do.  Ian is very loving and fun and we are so happy to have him in our family!
Happy Birthday Buddy!
