All About Nephi... Er I Mean Ian
Ian is a very special boy. He is very religious and he keeps our family on spiritual track.
Here is a sampling from his dinner prayer last night...
"Heavenly Father, Please bless us that we can be with our Father always, Please help us to build up the kingdom... on and on and on... oh and bless the food, Amen!" To which Ashlyn whispered to me afterwards, "What is he talking about 'building up the kingdom'?"
He also plagues me every day with questions about his upcoming mission in 12 years. He can't wait to go.
And what does he want for his birthday cake this year? A cake with a picture of the prophet, President Monson standing next to the temple. And there has to be some bushes in there somewhere. Do you think I can order that one from a bakery?
But our favorite example of his spirituality lately is his "Jesus beats everything" answers. The other night, Zac was telling the kids that he got to spend some time with someone special (Ian) that day and wondered if they could guess who. He kept giving hints and the kids just weren't guessing it. Zac emphasized that this person was really "special" to which Ian replies automatically, without thinking of the context, "Jesus!", then he sits back with a smirk on his face knowing that no one can top his answer. The other night I had done something for Ashlyn that made her happy. On their way down to bed Zac heard Ashlyn say, "I sure like Mom!" to which Ian replied, "Well I like Jesus!" You can't believe how many times Ian has played that card... nothing beats Jesus. It reminds us of this commercial, just see if you can watch it without laughing...

Aside from his religious activities, Ian has also been very busy lately with school and piano. Yes, that's right he started piano lessons last month and he absolutely LOVES it! We have always known that this boy has music in his soul from the time he was very little.
Here is a video of some of his wicked dance moves as he dances with Just Dance Kids on the Wii...
School has also been very fun and exciting this month as it is the last month before summer vacation. He got to stay all day for a Fitness Day last week where he rotated to different stations and tried out different sports... his idea of Heaven. He also got to go on a field trip to the high school for Ag day. Today is pet day and I will help him bring in the ant farm that Zac gave me for Christmas to show his class. (We also have a cat and a fish, but we thought the ants would be different from all of the other pets). He will also get to stay all day for a first grade orientation and another full day on his birthday for an Adventure Day. I hate those days when he gets to go for a full day, because I seriously miss him in the mornings. He is such a help to me with Charlotte and Bronson that I don't know WHAT I will do when he is gone all day next year :(
He is also looking forward to starting a season of Tee-ball soon and a birthday in a couple of weeks. Ian is a great boy and I feel so honored to be his mom and watch the wonderful person he is becoming.
