Whitlee's April Fools Birthday

Whitlee finally hit the double digits and turned 10 this year!

Charlotte has been making a lot of homemade cake this year without a box mix and when she makes it, it's delicious, so I decided to use her recipe this year to make Whitlee's cake.  Unfortunately, I did something very wrong, and this is how the cake turned out...

So, I took Whitlee to Walmart when she got home from school and we picked an adorable cake from the bakery.

For her birthday this year from mom and dad, she wanted a subscription to Kiwi Co.  It is a company that sends a pretty cool arts and craft project every month.  Her siblings also gave her some fun art supplies and a snuggie.

As an April Fools joke on Dad, we put one of Whitlee's little toy cats in his rearview backup camera, so that this is what he saw whenever he backed up:
And the birthday girl needed a prank too, so we made a balloon surprise on her door so that when she opened her door, it would rain balloons on her!

For her birthday date she had been wanting to rent scooters by the temple and ride around the Greenbelt.  We found a good weather day and had an awesome scooter ride and ended with a Chick-Fil-A picnic at a park.

It was a fabulous birthday!

10 Things You Should Know About Whitlee May
1. She has "Riz", that's the word the kids these days use to describe a girl that all the boys are after (or vice versa if you are a boy).  She has told us so many stories this year of boys who have offered to be her boyfriend.  Charlotte even witnessed a drama go down on the bus where a boy was telling another boy, that he never wanted to go to school in the mornings, but then he thought of Whitlee and it got him out of bed!
2. She is really funny.  She knows how to time a joke and keeps us all laughing.  She has certain catchphrases that she uses over and over, but they always get a laugh.  Her current one is, "Nah, I'm good!"
3. She loves to fish! She is about tied with Tanner for my kids who love to fish. She will even go fishing by herself down at the docks and is known to catch more fish than any of the rest of us.
4. She learned that she likes to golf this year!  Last year I was going to sign Bronson up for a golf clinic and Whitlee kept insisting that she wanted to do it to.  On day 1 when she discovered she was the only girl, she felt a little discouraged, but she stuck with it.  She learned a lot and even went golfing with Mom and Grandpa and was able to keep up!
5. She is a definite Daddy's girl.  Her favorite place in the world to be is snuggled up next to her dad.  She misses him fiercely when he's gone and even when her siblings are all playing games or watching a movie, she is more often found hanging out with dad instead.
6. She loves stuffed animals and has a collection of hundreds of them.  She still loves to check out all of the stuffed animals at the store and thrift store and loves to show me how soft their fur is and try to convince me that they need to be adopted.
7.  She tried volleyball this year.  She played Spring volleyball and really enjoyed it.  She is also going to do another volleyball league in the Fall.  She has a lot of muscle and can serve that ball overhanded over the net!  She also pitched again for her Softball team this year and absolutely loved it!  She is a good little pitcher!
8.  Her favorite food is Sweet Chili Spicy Doritos.  I love them too and we like to share a bag.
9. She has been working hard to learn to do her hair and makeup this year.  She is an expert at the straightener and is learning to use the curling wand.
10.  She is taking piano lessons and especially loves to play songs from The Greatest Showman which is probably her favorite movie.  She is excited to learn to play the violin this coming year at school!

We all love Whitlee!  Something about that baby of the family that just endears us all to her.  She is a sweetheart!
