Tricky Dang Leprechauns

March 17th came and went and with it chance to catch some leprechauns and net some of those greedy bugger's gold for ourselves.

Oh we tried...

Ashlyn made a "monkey trap".  There was a small hole on top and some gold in the bottom.  The leprechaun was supposed to put his hand in and not be able to get it out when he grasped the gold.

Charlotte disguised a wipes container to look like a rainbow and cloud.  She put a little pot of gold on top where the hole for the wipes are.  When the leprechaun stepped on it, he was supposed to fall through and become stuck.

And Tanner built this complex contraption.  The leprechaun would climb the ladder to the top and would see some money in a "pool" (Tupperware with water) below.  The leprechaun would try to get all the gold in the pool...however unbeknownst to the leprechaun, Tanner had taped a piece of gold to the underside of the pool... and the leprechaun was supposed to become trapped in the pool as he spent all night trying to get the gold on the bottom.

Ian had to take his trap and leave it at school.  His greedy teacher wanted all of her student's to make a trap and leave it in the classroom to increase her chances of catching a leprechaun.

But you know leprechauns...
This one posed as his friends snapped a picture of him dancing on top of Charlotte's trap.

Another leprechaun made some clever tools such as a fishing pole made of toothpicks and a spool of thread and made off with Tanner's gold.

And this one posed with Ashlyn's trap moments before he did this...

Put her trap on stilts cut a hole in the bottom and made off with the gold.

Those tricky leprechauns even tried to trap our kids by leaving a box with a stick in it at the top of the stairs and some "candy gold".  The box said "This is Not a Trap".  The kids thought they were pretty clever as they reached in the box and got the gold out without setting off the trap.

Those leprechauns even played some nasty tricks on us!

And even turned our milk in the fridge green, which actually worked great with the green eggs and ham that we had for dinner.

You better watch out you tricky leprechauns, we'll get you next year!!!
