5 is the new 15

Last week, Ian had a birthday... we couldn't remember if he was turning five or fifteen.  This boy has a BIG personality full of fun and mischief!
Here is the birthday boy with a wagon load of gifts from his Grandma Kris.  He wanted me to take a picture of him holding each present (I will spare you the repetitious pictures and just show you this one).  Grandma sure knows what a boy wants and he has been out every day digging and playing in the dirt with all his new gear.  He can't wait to try out his gifts to help daddy make our new house.

The birthday boy's cake.  Ian wanted a Lightening McQueen cake, which I conceded was likely more than my cake skills could handle.  My sister Kellie, clued me in that you can order edible cake paper and even have it personalized all for a pretty decent price online!  Will I ever decorate a cake again?

AND the grocery store even had Lightening McQueen candles!!!

The birthday boy blowing out his candles and making a wish... what did he wish for?  That he could see the new Airplanes movie by Pixar coming out someday.

This is one of my favorite gifts that he got.  A spiderman punching bag.

It is so hard to capture in picture just how much fury he unleashes on this thing.  It was pretty funny to watch.  Unfortunately, the lifespan of an inflatable punching bag for a five year old is about 2 days.

Lightening McQueen shrinkie dinks, a hit present, even though it wasn't quite the I-Pad, motorcycle, cell phone, or X-Box that he asked for!

Ten Things We Love About Ian:
1)  He is very friendly.  He is not afraid to talk to ANYONE and can make friends in 5 seconds wherever he goes.
2)  He is very smart.  He blew away the Kindergarten readiness testers.  One day when I was teaching his preschool class, I gave them each 10 black dots and had them glue them on a piece of paper to make a picture.  Some kids did smiley faces, others made "frackenblakin" a bunch of dots glued on a piece of paper, what did my son make?  The Eiffel Tower.
3)  Ian loves trains of all shapes and sizes.  When we go to Salt Lake he begs to ride the "Ter-ollys" (a combination of train and trolley... otherwise known as Trax).
4)  This boy is a sports enthusiast and loves any and all sports.  He is very coordinated and amazes us when he wails a ball off a tee or dribbles circles around the rest of us.
5)  Ian is very tech-savy and has been able to run the computer better than I can since he was quite young.  He loves earning computer time.
6) Ian has so much confidence that it sometimes gets him in trouble.  He believes that he can run faster, jump higher, and be tougher than any other person on the planet (which earned him a punch in the face one day from his friend Lincoln!)
7) He loves to be with his dad, doing anything.  Ian is his dad's right hand man.
8)  He loves playing stuffed animals with his sister Ashlyn and they can get lost for hours in a world of make believe.
9) His favorite food, he proclaims is hot dogs.
10) He is a great help to his mom, especially with baby brother Bronson, and replies "Yes, Sir" or "Sure Mom, whatever you say." whenever I ask him for a favor.  He says such grown up things that crack us up.

We sure love this boy!
