Family Circus

This was all so two months ago, so don't be jealous of the SLC weather.  I have just been too lazy to blog and finally had a night to catch up!

So in September, Zac's dad was able to be sealed to his wife and invited us to attend the sealing in the Logan temple.  We decided to make a trip of it and we booked a hotel room at the Raddison in Salt Lake and also hooked ourselves up with some tickets to Barnum and Bailey's Biggest Show on Earth (or in other words, the circus).  Here are some of the highlights from our trip...

They have been doing a lot of work to remodel an outdoor shopping center across the street from temple square.  We hadn't been to Salt Lake for a couple of years and were amazed at all of the construction that has taken place.  This is Ashlyn by a water fountain in the shopping district.

More amazing fountains

Okay, so I guess I really like water features as that ended up being 2/3 of my vacation pictures.  I just thought they were so cool.  It was all I could do from taking off my shoes and running through them!

I can't for the life of me space these pictures apart, so I will just say how awesome it is to walk around temple square.  The kids were awestruck when we told them they could go up and touch the temple door.  The second picture is Ian posing at the top of the stairs.  He thinks he is such hot stuff lately, every time anyone pulls out a camera, he is ready with his best model pose!

Also, at the Visitor's Center there on temple square, they had an absolutely AMAZING diorama of the temple furnished exactly as the real temple is with miniature furniture and all.  You could see every room and how it is decorated.  It was incredible and kept Zac enthralled for a very long time.  When we finally did pull him away from the Visitor's center, he took us for an amazing dinner at the Lion House.  Ian could not get over the fact that we were eating in the prophet's house!  (If you didn't know the Lion House was the house the Brigham Young lived in when he settled in SLC).

Next we hopped on the Trax... the boys had been begging to ride the train, or as Ian called it the TerRolly (a combination of train and trolley) and we rode down the street to the Energy Solutions Center to get ready for the circus.
The kids stoked and ready to watch some elephants.  As the house wasn't packed, a kind usher let us move down closer to the action, so we ended up being able to see pretty well.
Charlotte wasn't so keen on all of the excitement and kept plugging her ears when it got too noisy, she kept Zac and I busy the whole time wrestling her trying to keep her from jumping off the balcony.  Finally by intermission she had fallen asleep... and so had Ian... and the twins were sick of the circus and wanted to go back to the hotel to swim, so we did.
We tried to take several pictures of the actual circus throughout the night, but as we were up so high, and it was dark, it was hard to focus on anything.  But we did love to see the elephants, the zebras, stilt walkers, tight rope walkers, jugglers, acrobats, and anything else you can possibly imagine that is associated with a circus.

And even though the circus was great, it absolutely paled in comparison to the acrobatics and humorus clowns that kept us up half the night in the hotel room!
