Fall Football

Ian had his Senior year of football this year and it has been so bittersweet.  I get teary thinking about never being able to watch him play football again.  And though he is a little sad, he is so worn out, cold, and sore.  He played center this year and it has been an incredibly physical position.  He has to perfectly hike the ball to the quarterback and then immediately get up and start blocking to keep that quarterback safe.  Oftentimes, the guys that go up against him are huge and all of his time in the weight room takes on significant meaning to him.  He plays on every offensive play and some defense and he has been an absolute joy to watch.

This year, he had a chance to play in a game against Cousin Frank on Sugar Salem, and even though these two schools have a huge rivalry, these boys have always been awesome friends.  This is the first time any of my kids have ever played a cousin in sports.

It has been fun having two boys in football this year, as Bronson also padded up and played with the 7th grade.  We watched a lot of football at our house.

The 7th graders got new jerseys this year and they are snugger than they have been in years past.  It was hilarious watching the boys learn to take them off!

Bronson also had an impressive year playing an offensive lineman.  He has learned so much and it is fun watching him become more aggressive and get those blocks!

I love football and all that comes with it, the friendships the boys make, the community friendships with the parents, the gorgeous fall weather and being outside to enjoy it and even watching football, I have come to really enjoy the sport!
