Zac and Lori Birthday at Disney World!

We had a VERY busy April and May including travel to Dallas and Moab, so when the need arose for Zac to head out on another business trip to Jacksonville Florida, and invited me along, I wasn't sure if I was up for the trip.  However, we had a companion airline ticket that was going to expire on our birthday and when Zac told me that he also had a client to meet in Orlando the day after our birthday, that sealed the deal.  Zac agreed to take me to Disney World for a birthday trip and the tickets were booked!  At our lovely hotel near Disney World, there was a large work of art in the lobby.  It was a portrait of Walt Disney made entirely from the keys of a keyboard and hidden throughout the artwork were quotes from Walt Disney!

The day before our birthday on Memorial Day, we had to drive about 2 hours away to Jacksonville to check on a project.  Along the way, we stopped at Daytona Beach and checked out the NASCAR Daytona International Speedway and paid to take a stadium tour.

While we were there, we were able to see some of the NASCAR cars going around the track.  It was fun to watch!

In the stadium museum, we came across the Fabulous Hudson Hornet and were thrilled to learn that it was an actual racecar that the movie Cars had paid tribute to.

We also made a stop in St. Augustine, which they say is one of the oldest cities in America, settled by Spanish conquistadors long ago.  St. Augustine is beautiful and historic and I love it.

They say Ponce de Leon came here looking for the Fountain of Youth

We also decided to take in the historic lighthouse at St. Augustine.  It was thrilling to walk up the many steps and check out the sights of the city down below.
The view of Jacksonville from the top of a dome!

On our birthday it was Disney World Day!  And even though it would have been so fun to have the kids along with us.  It was so fun to take Disney World at our own slow pace and enjoy some of the smaller details that the kids might not have appreciated!  Also, Disney World was so cool because it lacked some of the upgrades that Disney Land has instituted, so going to Disney World felt just as I had remembered Disney Land as a child.

Sharing a birthday with my sweetheart is one of the biggest joys of my life.  I am so grateful for a spouse that loves to travel and find adventure as much as I do.  I am so excited for the many adventures to come as we continue to share our lives together.
