8 is Great!

Charlotte Geraldine turned 8!  As a family rule, we usually have the kids wait until they turn 8 to have their first ever friend party and Charlotte was super excited.  Since one of her main loves in life is art, she decided to have an art themed birthday party.

We decorated a color wheel color drip cake and then frosted some cupcakes with just plain white frosting and let our guests decorate them.

When the guests arrived they made a monogrammed polka dot canvas bag to keep all their party goodies in.

The girls also decorated washer necklaces made from a hardware washer and painted with nail polish and embellished with sparkly stickers. 

The cupcakes were a hit.

For the cake we made a white cake and separated it into four bowls.  We dyed each bowl a different color and then dropped the colors by spoonful into the cake pan creating a colorful camouflage effect.  It was a very colorful cake!

10 Things You Should Know About Charlotte:

1- Charlotte loves to sing and perform.  She has a beautiful voice and isn't even scared to sing in front of a crowd.  She participated in the school musical production of Aladdin and has sang in Sacrament meeting with her brothers and sisters, and also sang a duet in the Primary Program, but would have been just as happy to sing a solo.  She is looking forward to singing at her baptism with a friend and cousin.

2- Charlotte is also very excited to perform in drama.  She loves to write plays, as well as direct them, choreograph them, plan costumes, and write and perform music.

3. Charlotte started gymnastics back up this year and has enjoyed gymnastics very much.  She can almost do the full splits three different ways.  She has also perfected her cartwheel and is learning a lot on the bars this year.

4.  Charlotte is also taking piano this year.  She has been taking from her mom and she is flying through the books.  She enjoys playing and making music.

5.  Charlotte is very smart, clever, and funny.  She always amazes adults with her sharp wit and precocious comments. She has been invited to test into the gifted and talented program at her school this year and I know she is going to love it.  She is always always inventing jokes is getting pretty good at coming up with some good ones, such as: "What is an astronauts favorite kind of music?  Rocket and Roll"

6. Char loves art!  Over half of her birthday gifts this year were art supplies.  She loves to take weekly art lessons at the local library and has made some very beautiful pieces.

7. Charlotte loves to read!!  She has over 200 accelerated reading points in her class.  She is far far ahead of the other kids in her class on reading points.  Her teacher had planned prizes for various different point levels for the kids in her class.  Charlotte earned every prize and then started over and earned them all again!!  She reads very fast and at a 4th-5th grade reading level even though she is only in 2nd grade.

8. She has enjoyed starting sports this year.  She loved participating in t-ball and really enjoyed basketball too and really jumped in there scoring several points for her team.  Her dribbling is coming along very well too.

9.  Charlotte is tall!  She was the tallest girl on her basketball team and one of the tallest kids in her class.

10.  Charlotte has a very active and fun personality.  She has a sunny and bubbly disposition and makes friends very easily.  She is a lot of fun to have for a sibling as she never has a dull moment.  She is always thinking of fun games to play and activities to do.  She makes our home a very happy place to be.
