Track and Field 2022

Charlotte and Tanner participated in Track and Field this year and the weather did not want to cooperate!  Almost every single meet was miserably windy, rainy, and even snowy.

Even though the weather was rough, the kids still enjoyed learning and growing in their events!
Charlotte was very interested in long jumping and learned so much as she participated in this event in every meet.  Ian even stepped in on this meet to help run the event.

Charlotte also tried out the 200 and even joined a relay team last minute.  She is finding where her strengths lie and continue to strive to get new personal records.

Tanner found out last year that he has a talent for the hurdles and didn't mess around this year with any events other than the 110 High hurdles and the 300 hurdles.  The poor guy had all but ruined his legs (knees, hamstrings, calves, and almost nearly broke his ankle) and had to overcome all of those obstacles trying to get into peak condition to hit his goals and make it to State.

The season certainly kept us on the edge of our seats wondering if Tanner would make his goal of making it to state.  He continually struggled to get his times because of the weather, the injuries, and even tripping over a hurdle in a race, which really scared his mother.

When Districts finally arrived, Tanner was able to kick it into competitive gear and took second in the 300 hurdles, qualifying him for State and 3rd in the 110 Hurdles, which didn't qualify him for State, but did earn him a medal.

The weather for State was beautiful and we were able to watch this kid finish his Senior year at the State tournament in Boise.  He had a fun time with his friends and narrowly missed qualifying for the finals, which he beat himself up for all day, as he felt he could have gotten off the start blocks a little faster.  He hit new PRs this year and made so many friends from different schools and friends for life from his own school.  He was so sad when it was all over and so were we.  We will miss watching Tanner excel in something that he loves.   We have had so much fun watching him set and reach his goals.  We can't wait to see him transfer that passion into his next adventures of mission and college.

Tanner had a nice tribute from his hurdles coach at an awards banquet and earned his track pin for his letter and was also awarded his District medals.  We sure love these friends that he has made through participating in Cross Country and Track.  Can't wait to hear about these boys as they start their mission and college adventures!
