Ian's DARE Graduation and A DARE Award

Ian just wrapped up the 5th grade, which means that this year he got to participate in DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education).  Every year at the end of the DARE program the students are asked to write an essay about what they learned in DARE.  Each teacher along with the DARE officer then reads the essays and gets to select one student from each class to read their essay in front of the school and all of the parents.  Ian's essay was short, funny, and insightful and he was chosen from his class!  He walked confidently up to the stage and read his essay in a loud and clear voice.

As a prize, the DARE officer gave Ian a stuffed lion, the mascot of DARE and a certificate of achievement.

I absolutely adore this boy for his humor, confidence, humility, and just all around happy disposition.  We are so proud of Ian especially for the pledge that he has taken to stay away from drugs and alcohol and I believe him!
