The Purest of Puritans

Tanner and Ashlyn had the opportunity to learn about Puritans this year at school as they studied the first Thanksgiving.  They had a day at school where they had to act as Puritan children.  Their teachers also sent home a request for the kids to continue acting as Puritan children while they ate their evening meal.  Tanner completely dreaded the activity and wanted nothing to do with it, but we made him do it anyways much to our delight.  Some of the rules they had to follow were:
1- Wear a hat to dinner.  We wouldn't let them get off easy by wearing a favorite ball cap, so I dug out an old costume, Man with the Yellow Hat, hat for Tanner and Ashlyn got a bonnet.
2- They had to eat standing.
3- They had to use their hands to eat.
4.  They could not speak without being spoken to.
5.  They had to be very respectful to their parents.
I told them to pose like a Puritan for this picture, and apparently, this is how Tanner thinks Puritans look.

So we made them do one more serious one, though it was hard because these sillies are far from serious.  Overall, it was an entertaining evening and made us appreciate the close family relationships that we enjoy with one another.

So thankful for my wonderful kids!
