Extreme Mother's Day

For Mother's Day this year, my dear husband thought it would be delightful to pack us all up with a picnic and drive into a volcano, an extinct one, but still very dangerous (because Zac was driving). How did he find this volcano you might ask? Well, my husband is in love with Google Earth, which is a program on the Internet that Google provides. Using satellite imaging you can view any area of the earth that you could possibly want to explore... which is how he found the volcano. BUT, just because a place exists, doesn't mean roads exist to get there. Therefore, we followed a trail in our truck (which I am sure wasn't meant to be driven on in a truck) and beat ourselves up for an hour or more over rocky dried up lava tubes. But we finally got there and had fun eating our picnic, though Ashlyn wouldn't venture far from the truck because she was sure the volcano would errupt at any second! And ironically, we decided to try a different path to get back home because the one on the way up was so treacherous, and lo and behold, we found an actual road and got home in half the time!

Inside the Volcano

Ian enjoys bumpy rides in the truck (ps. he dresses himself, so don't judge me too harshly when my kids don't match, at least his pants and shirt aren't backwards this time)

Tanner loves being outside and can't wait for the camping season.
AND Ashlyn wouldn't leave the truck... you know because of the scary volcano and all.
