The Twins Graduate

It seems so unreal how fast time has flown.  I know it is cliche, but it really feels like yesterday that we were just bringing our tiny little twins home from the hospital, wondering how on earth we would make sure that their little heart rates or oxygen levels weren't dropping.  We could hardly sleep at night for fear that they might spit up or roll over and suffocate each other.  And now, they are legal adults and graduated from high school starting new adventures and finding their paths as adults.

Both Ashlyn and Tanner graduated with a 4.0 GPA, graduating at the top of their class.  Ashlyn was valedictorian and Tanner had to be salutatorian due to the fact that he had gotten a B in his Spanish class and decided to drop it and retake it to get an A and bump it back up to a 4.0.  Tanner was such a good sport.  Though he didn't get to be valedictorian, he sat with a friend who was also salutatorian and they just so happened to be in the perfect place to appear in every single students graduation photograph and in the perfect spot that his grandparents that watched remotely could see him perfectly during the whole broadcast.

The twins also got to have one last orchestra performance, as they got to be part of an ensemble that performed a special musical number during the graduation ceremony.

Tanner texted me right before the graduation started, wondering if I could run to the orchestra room and get the music he had forgotten.  This kid was on a real streak at this point of forgetting important pieces of information.  We weren't able to recover his music, but thanks to a good friend, Tessa, he was able to share.

Grandma Kris bought the twins each a set of luggage for their upcoming adventures and the twins were thrilled.  We were able to celebrate for about 30 minutes after graduation before it was time for the twins to head to their Senior All-Nighter at the high school.

It was such a bizarre feeling for the twins to end this huge milestone in their lives.  There were so many feelings of sadness as realizations that many moments would be "lasts", but the feeling of excitement and anticipation for adventures to come made it all endurable.  Can't wait to see where life takes these two.  No matter what they do, I know they will be amazing.
