Family Trip to Boise
We love it when Tanner makes it to State Track and Field, especially when it is Boise. We usually don't have much reason to go to Boise, so it gives us a reason to go in a new direction and find new ways to play. This year, his State tournament so kindly landed on the same weekend that Cousin Kade was getting married in Boise, which made it super nice for us.
This go around, we decided to take a scenic bypass and went to Shoshone Falls, which only added about 30 minutes to our trip. The Falls are so beautiful but were kind of sad this year as the water level was lower than I have ever seen it.
The younger kids barely remembered going to Shoshone Falls before and so they really enjoyed hiking up the nature trails and eating a picnic lunch.
While in Boise, we decided to perform Baptisms for the Dead in the Boise Temple. It was awesome to be able to have three of our six kids with us in the temple. We were actually quite surprised by how small the baptism area was. But it was so fun to check out a new temple that we hadn't been in.
Lunch at Moon's Cafe was a must, as this is an iconic little 50's style diner downtown that Zac loved visiting when he was in high school and attended Youth Legislature.
We also took the kids to the Boise Zoo and were a bit disappointed. I had taken Tanner, Ashlyn, and Ian when they were quite young and I remembered that it was a pretty cool zoo. However, we were so bummed when we found out after paying that literally half of the animals were missing! After a while, it just started to be a joke! However, we still managed to see a cool few animals and have some fun.
We also tried out fishing for an hour, but about 15 minutes after we started, it started to downpour rain! There were cute little geese families with their little chicks everywhere and they were fun to watch.
And of course, the best part of the weekend was watching these two become man and wife. Kade is a lucky guy. Lauren made a beautiful bride and is going to make a wonderful wife. We are so glad she is part of our family!
