Yellowstone National Park

The kids get two weeks out for Harvest Break and none of my kids are old enough to work Harvest yet.  So in years past, we have taken off for vacations and two weeks of solid fun.  However, we are finding as the kids continue to get older the obligations start piling up between football, Activity Days, play practices, piano lessons, work schedules, etc., etc.,  It gets so hard to get away!  But Zac decided that we should do whatever it takes to get on a little mini-vacation to the cabin before Harvest Break got away from us.  We had to blow off I think we counted 5 obligations, but we made it.  And since it is Fall and the weather was perfect and the colors are gorgeous, I begged to go to Yellowstone National Park since we hadn't been for a few years.  It was time to introduce our little ones again.

We usually just drive in to Old Faithful and back, but we decided to make a whole day of it this time and drove the big lower loop.  There were so many beautiful sights to see that none of the kids have ever seen before.

The last time Zac and I had driven this loop was on our honeymoon.  We have a selfie just like this at this exact spot from our honeymoon a little over 17 years ago.  We haven't changed a bit.

The bison were out in abundance creating crazy traffic jams, especially because they insisted on crossing the road in several places and didn't seem at all phased by cars or people.  We could have touched them from our car windows... but we didn't.

Bronson barely made it out of the bathroom in time to witness the miracle of Old Faithful.  All of these wonders seemed like complete magic from the eyes of our youngest who weren't old enough to remember any of this before.

By the end of the day we ended up walking over 6 miles according to my watch and had covered some serious elevation, but when the day ends with ice cream and souvenirs at Old Faithful tired feet are forgotten and I hope the kids have wonderful memories to store away.
