Bronson's 6th Birthday

I can't believe it, our little Buster turned 6.  And we had a family Ninja Party to celebrate.

Bronson fell in love with Lego Ninjago ever since he discovered the show on Netflix a few years back, so of course when the movie came out, it was a big hit in our house.  It goes without saying htat Bronson requested a Ninjago cake for his birthday.  And this is what we came up with.

Everyone knows that Ninjas are sneaky, especially Bronson who runs around this house sneaking and spying on everyone training to be a Ninja.  So we decided to hide some Ninja's in his Ninja cake that could jump out and surprise the kids when they ate the cake.

We also needed something to do while we waited for the kids to get home from school a couple of hours after Bronson gets home from school, so we learned how to make exploding Ninja stars out of Popsicle sticks.

For his birthday dinner, he requested a bag of McDonald's cheeseburgers.  How many cheeseburgers does it take to feed a family of 8?  22.  And yes, every time we roll through the drive through and order 22 cheeseburgers we get comments by the McDonald's employees.

Dad decided to surprise Bronson with a monkey pinata.  In all our 16 years of marriage it is the first pinata either of us has ever purchased.  The kids were very excited.

After breaking the pinata and some Ninja party games such as Sensei says, we played some heavy heavy hangover with presents that the kids picked out for Bronson.

What a character.

10 Things About Bronson

1. Bronson is an extremely happy little boy.  He is our morning bird and is often the first one up in the mornings.  When I wake him up for school he always wakes up very happy to see me.  Whenever anyone in the family leaves he will stand and the doorway and wave until they are out of sight and whenever anyone comes home, he is the first to greet them at the door in a full sprint and squeals of delight.  He loves having his family home.
2. His favorite superhero is the Flash and he aspires to be a racer.  He can't wait until he is old enough to be in track.  He loves to give me running tackle hugs when I am least expecting them and he is almost getting big enough to knock me over when he does it.
3. This kid is a voracious reader.  He has been reading since he was four and is starting to read everything.  His Kindergarten teacher was laughing because he never needs instructions for anything because he just reads them himself on his papers and on the board.  His Kindergarten teacher bought a special set of books just so that she could challenge Bronson and he loves them.  They are thinking about having him take the first grade test for reading this Spring because he is off the charts with his Kindergarten skills.
4. He absolutely loves Ninjas, Pirates, Peter Pan, and Mickey Mouse and all movies, toys, and make believe that has to do with these four things.
5. He is a very technology oriented kids and absolutely loves to push buttons and operate anything that involves technology.  We got an Amazon Alexa for Christmas and she is Bronson's best friend.  He will have conversations with her for hours if we let him.  He is also very interested in driving the car lately and tries to talk his dad into it whenever he can.
6. This mister is a harsh food critic and is very picky about what he eats.  But his favorite food in the world is mac and cheese and he would eat it every day for dinner if I let him.
7. Bronson loves to create crafts and artwork and requested a craft kit for Christmas so that he could begin to take art lessons like his big sisters.  He has a talent for art and is doing very well.
8. He played t-ball for the first time last summer and fell in love with it.  We just signed him up again for the upcoming spring/summer and he is very excited.
9. Bronson feels emotions intensely and will take them to extremes.  When he feels joy, he is euphoric jumping around squealing and hugging everyone in sight.  On the flip side, when he is sad or discouraged he will yell things like, "Now I'll never make the Olympics!" or lay on the floor and pretend that he is dead because he can't make a basket yet.  My favorite is when someone doesn't like something I cook and he will go down a line of thinking like this, "You don't like what mom cooked, so you don't like mom!  You hate mom and you want her to die!!"  That sure gets people in a panic fast and eating their dinner.
10.  He is very close to his Savior and knows that Jesus is the answer to everything.  We were playing Jeopardy the other day with the kids.  Bronson was getting upset because he didn't know the answer, so he just started answering all the questions with "Jesus" because how can you ever tell someone that Jesus isn't the right answer.  I love getting to teach him in Primary.  The other day one of the teachers was asking the kids to explain what is meant by "This Life is a Test" and Bronson raised his hand and explained like a grown up that Heavenly Father sent us here to have trials and problems so that we could see if we could get through them and be faithful and return to him.  He then compared the "Test" to an obstacle course, which I have never heard anyone do before and I thought it was so insightful.  I just loved that analogy.  He is a very deep thinker and always wants to do the right thing because he loves his mom and dad and especially his Heavenly Parents and his Savior.

We love Bronson.  Happy Birthday Buddy!
