Zac's Trip to Indonesia
It has now almost been a full year since Zac switched jobs. It happened last year when things fell apart with a company that we were part owners in and there were several weeks where we were out of work and it was scary as heck. There were many days I spent crying in my closet trying to hide my fear from Zac and from the kids and trying to find my faith. I have never actually written on this blog about the job change because it was a scary and depressing time that I don't like to think about it and bring back all the feels, but deserves a mention as it was a huge life change.
SO, for many reasons complex and varied the business that we had bought into and become part owners in fell apart and the other owners decided to buy us out (which actually became a huge blessing, as time would tell later on down the road). At the time, it was tear inducing. Being temporarily out of work with six kids to provide for is a huge burden to bear. Finding a job that provides the income and benefits that we need is a daunting task to say the least. One that we had been through before, but without quite so many kids, so we knew what we were up against.
HOWEVER, through the whole ordeal, Zac had a huge sense of calmness wash over him. It felt almost completely different than the last time the market turned and we found ourselves without a job. I was a bit of a basket case, but the unreal calmness that Zac was experiencing in turn calmed me. We prayed a lot, fasted a lot, and went to the temple. Interviews at the INL were conducted and Zac talked to many of his contacts. We thought about starting another business and prepared websites and marketing materials in case that was the direction we decided to go. And then Zac talked to his old bishop... who had a job offer for him. This man is someone Zac has respected and trusted for a long time and had worked with over the years through his other business endeavors. At the end of a 3-4 week period of deciding. Zac decided to take his bishop up on his offer and started his career with Domtec International. Emphasis on the International. The job is a huge blessing and in hind sight was a change that our lives were needing. Unfortunately, the job still requires travel, which isn't overbearing, but sometimes that travel takes Zac across the world as it did this past month when he visited Indonesia!
Indonesia is right below China and close to Australia. It was a 13 hour time zone difference. Which was hard to get used to when we talked to him on the phone.
While there Zac was able to attend an LDS English speaking ward and saw this Book of Mormon with Elder Martineau's name in it! Martineau just so happens to be my maiden name, so of course that was pretty cool.
Here are some more shots of the city scape:
Though it is hard to have my sweetheart and our favorite dad away from us for weeks at a time. We are always blessed and protected when he is gone. We love that he gets to experience this beautiful Earth that we live on and we are so thankful to have employment that provides for our family.
