Zac's Trip to Kentucky

Zac is destined to see the world and I am wholly jealous.  Never in my life did I imagine this small town farm boy from Hamer Idaho would someday become an international man of mystery (aka business man).  It doesn't seem to matter what job he is working at, travel always seems to be in the cards.  And though he hates being away from his family with a passion, he has had so many amazing experiences.

This past month, he had the opportunity to visit Kentucky!  He was actually very excited for this trip.  He made it to Kentucky the week just after the Kentucky Derby finished up.

This is what his Domtec International booth looked like at the World of Coal Ash trade show.  I have to admit, I never thought visiting the World of Coal Ash would make our to do list.  I am so proud of Zac and how he strives so hard to excel in his professional endeavors.

One of the highlights of Zac's trip was to visit Keeneland, a famous horse racing stadium where several famous horse races are run every year.  Many famous horse racing movies such as Sea Biscuit and Secretariat have also been filmed at Keeneland.

And just between you and me, he and a co-worker found some open doors and gave themselves a self guided tour... not exactly sure if that is smiled upon or not.  It wasn't technically open for races that day.  But because the general public wasn't there, they were able to go everywhere and see everything and weren't even questioned.

The boys did make a couple of other stops and were able to see some horse jumping and some pretty fancy pants horse shows.

Zac came home feeling sorely tempted to move to Kentucky.  He said it was absolutely beautiful with rolling green fields for miles.  There were endless beautiful fences surrounding pristine horse farms.

At this park, there was a monument to one of the greatest horses of all time, Man 'O War.  Zac's Grandpa Albert had told us a story many times about being able to see this exact monument.  It was fulfilling to finally be able to see the monument that meant so much to Grandpa.

The boys certainly made the most of their trip and also felt free to let themselves into the University of Kentucky stadium for another self guided tour.  I swear, one of these days I am going to get a call from prison asking for bail money to get this boy out of trouble from one of his self guided escapades.

I am seriously so jealous.  I look forward to the day when I get to travel the world with this sweetheart of mine.
