Bronson and Ian Throw

It was a wildly cold, wet, and even snowy spring for track, but hey this is Idaho.  And regardless of the weather, my boys (all 3 of them) have decided that track and field is their favorite sport.

Some of the things we love about track:
1. You can try so many different kinds of events and find out what you love to do.
2. The events are short, so once you are done, you can relax and hang out with your friends.
3. Boys and girls can participate, so it ends up being just a huge fun group of kids.
4. You don't have the pressure of the whole stadium watching you serve, or receive, or bat.  You just have a small group of friends and family that surround your event.
5. Your biggest competition is yourself and your previous record.
6. You can go to State as an individual even if your team isn't very good.

Ian picked up the shotput and discus last year and loved it!  He convinced Bronson that throwing was the best place to be in track and field and he taught Bronson everything he knew.

Last year Ian was just learning the sport, but this year he got really serious and set his sights on going to State, which means he would have to place 1st or 2nd in a district event.  He worked really hard and was able to pull off a last-minute miracle throw in discus that put him in 2nd at districts and qualified him for State!  It was so exciting.  And Bronson, having all that awesome mentoring, became pretty good at the discus himself.  He consistently placed in the top 3 at most of his meets and ended up winning 1st place at districts in discus and 3rd place in shotput!

The Snake River Throwers!

Both boys had their district track meets in Preston, and eating at the Polar Bear Eats is ALWAYS a highlight!
Bronson thought Sage would like to wear his medals.

This boy is incredible.  He won 1st in discus, 3rd in shotput, and rushed home to compete in a flag football game!
