Bronson Buster's 7th Birthday!

Bronson had a birthday, hooray!!
This boy is ambitious and independent, so he wanted to make as much of his cake as possible.  He made and baked the cake and then helped me every step of the way with decorating it.

He decided to go with a Chicago Bears cake, since it is his favorite team and they actually played decently this year.

On the morning of his birthday, we also created some Chicago Bears pancakes to start the morning off right.

He opened some fun presents from his brothers and sisters that he absolutely loved!

Ian gave him a science kit, Ashlyn gave him a paper airplane folding kit, Tanner gave him a Lego set, Charlotte and Whitlee gave him a Power Wheels Track, Mom gave him a K'nex set, and Dad gave him a bow and some arrows!  He loved it all.

We got to take the birthday boy to the Lego Movie 2 and spent the rest of the night playing games, which is his favorite thing to do ever!

10 Things You Should Know About the Birthday Boy

1.  He LOVES to play sports!  He has played t-ball for the past two years and just absolutely loved it.  He was the most serious t-ball player you ever saw always down and ready and trying to make his way to the back of the batting line so he could be the coveted last batter who got to knock out a home run to get everyone home.  He was over the moon that he was finally old enough to play basketball this year!
2.  He will not wear any shirts to school or at home that do not have a sports team or something to do with sports on them.
3.  He has the kindest heart of any kid I have ever met.  He looks for those who are friendless or who struggle and he steps up to be their friend.  And it is not just a one and done so I can say I did it at church kind of friendship.  He has been a loyal friend to many all year long.
4.  He is an amazing reader and is constantly scoring off the charts in his reading tests.
5.  He is so stubborn doing everything himself, which is why he learned to read so well.  Ever since he started learning his letter sounds and figured out that they make words, he has not wanted to be read to ever since.  He has to be the one that reads, and would have fits when he was 4 if we didn't let him read the scriptures BY HIMSELF when we had family scripture time!!  Even from babyhood and toddler hood, this kid had to do everything himself.  Many fits were thrown in the past because I turned on a light, or put a shirt on the kid to hurry him up... now that 'do it myself' mentality manifests itself to mastering skills on the computer, to hiding remote controls from us because he likes to be the one to set up a movie night.  He also loves to get hold of my cell phone or tablet to secretly text his dad or send him videos and pictures.  He has had to battle hard to let us allow him to ride the 4-wheeler by himself.  He loves to make his own food whenever possible.  He is a very independent kid because of all of the things he insists on doing himself.
6. He still squeals with delight, especially when dad comes home.  Bronson is a daddy's boy through and through and is one of the few that still squeals and comes running when daddy is home.  He has such an innocence and excitement for life.  He gets so excited and delighted about day to day life.  His enthusiasm is catching and he brings so much joy to our family.
7.  He started the piano this year and he is a natural!  He really enjoys learning the piano and is dedicated to practicing.  It seems to be coming so easy to him and he is flying through his lessons.
8.  The Chicago Bears are his favorite sports team, thanks to some brainwashing from dad!
9.  He LOVES his family.  He loves sharing a room with Ian and can't sleep or go to bed if Ian isn't home.  Ian is a great brother to him and talks to him and comforts him to get him to sleep.  Poor Ian will likely never be able to have his own room.  Bronson's favorite thing to do in the world is play games with the family and he is the one that is always pulling out games and setting up a game table and dragging us all over to get us to play.  For his birthday the only thing he wanted to do was to play games with the family all night long!!  Some of his favorite games are Cover Your Assets, Ticket to Ride, Skunk Tail, and games on the Wii.
10.  He wants to be the prophet.  He asked me one day how a person got to be the prophet and I explained to him about church callings and about how in our faith, we are all called upon and asked to serve in different roles and that one of those rolls is that of Prophet.  At this point he started to cry.  I asked him what was wrong and he said he would never be allowed to be the prophet because he had made mistakes in his life.  What a sweet conversation we had about repentance and about how no one on this earth is perfect, except for Jesus Christ.  We just have to keep trying to do our best and repent when we make mistakes.  He has taken that pep talk to heart and he tries SO hard to be as righteous as he can be.  Even during sacrament meeting, Zac and I marvel that this kid can sit still and listen to the speakers with an intensity that is beyond what most adults are even capable of.  He listens to his teachers and strives to take the lessons into his life.  One night, we had to travel to the home of his Primary Teacher at close to 10 p.m. because he was going to come undone.  He had learned about covenants at Primary and had covenanted with his teacher that he would color a page and bring it back to her.  When we didn't get it done earlier in the day, he wouldn't let it go until at almost 10 o'clock at night I finally took him over there so he could get some peace.  His teacher was good humored and really appreciated that he would keep his covenant!  This boy is seriously beyond special and is going to be a warrior for his Heavenly Father.

We love this boy fiercely.  Happy Birthday Buster!
