Halloween: Potters

Tanner needed a book to read.  I suggested Harry Potter.  Tanner refused, "No, Harry Potter is stupid."  So I got out my Harry Potter set of books and I started reading aloud about the Boy Who Lived.  And wouldn't you know it pretty soon, Tanner was bringing me that book every night begging for just one more chapter.  And then when that book was finished he wanted to read Harry Potter 2 all by himself, but the family voted and decided that they wanted Mom to read the second one aloud as a family read aloud.  So Tanner had to put up with my slow pace as we plugged through the second book.  But Mom vetoed reading the third book aloud and turned Tanner loose on the series.  And in his own time he read books 3-7 in the course of about 4 months.  And he got his twin sister hooked, though she is not about to stay up at all hours of the night reading, she values her beauty sleep too much, so she currently resides in book 5.

Tanner enthusiastically created a Harry Potter costume, only to chicken out the night of the trunk or treat and would only go as a Hogwarts student...

Charlotte really wanted to be Ginny after reading the second book and watching the movie with the family.

Unfortunately her poor white/blonde hair took on more of a pinkish hue than a red one.  But she didn't care in her mind she was Ginny and has acted like Ginny all month.

Bronson was supposed to be Dobby.  But he HATED that dang Dobby costume and begged to be Harry Potter like the big kids.  So we obliged.

Seriously- Cutest. Harry. Potter. EVER.

And Whitlee went as Hedwig (the white owl)

She was also not overly fond of her costume and learned how to take off the hat shortly after this photo shoot and would never again leave the hat on.

But Charlotte and Bronson thought it was a pretty cool costume and did some laps flying around the house.

Ian was Ron and really believed that he had magic.  I think he looks awesome as a red head!

And my awesome husband was Hagrid.

Ashlyn was Hermione and recruited Mittens, her cat to be Crookshanks for the picture.

She made such a good Hermione, I think they should remake the movies and cast her.  Maybe we will have to make a home movie.

   

The best themed family at the trunk or treat! 

By Halloween night, we convinced Tanner to be Harry Potter and he looked great!  Charlotte decided to be Hedwig, since Whitlee refused and Whitlee made an adorable Dobby.  And of course I got in there too as Professor McGonagall

It was truly a MAGICAL night.
